Otome Game?

6 min read
Hello!

Since Campnanowrimo is coming up, I decided to try and use this opportunity to see if I could write the script for a small otome game. Now if you know me, you also know making a game is a project I had for a good while, though I never went very far with it.

This time I'm hoping to get a lot of it done by the end of the month, at least writing wise, and I thought it would be a good motivation to post a journal to serve as a sort of FAQ. I'd love any sort of questions or tips you may have for me!

1)What's a campnanowrimo?
It's pretty much a month long writing challenge, where you interract with other writers and set a words goal. In my case I started with 15000 words, though I'll likely end up with more.

2)What's an otome game?
Pretty much a dating simulation game aimed at girls. In my case it's meant to be an interactive romance story. To be entirely honest I'm sure there must be some form of English name for it but the fact is; I don't know what that name might be, as a lot of these games came from Japan and a lot of people simply used this sort of japanese name for it. So I guess if you know an official English name for the genre, feel free to tell me, I'm always looking to further my vocabulary :)

3)What's the game about?
The base for the game is simple; you move to a small town in the French country side, meet people, love ensues; you may find true love, or die, or just be single forever which is okay too. What happens to your character will depend on your choices really.

4)When will it be finished?
No ideas, so far I only have the base concept down! Hopefully in a month most of the writing will be done, but I'll still have a lot of things to do, from making the art for the game all the way to coding it and making the music for it etc. So it might be a while. Still it's a fun project and I'll post updates on my patreon first, then later on here!

5)What will the romance options be like?
Well since this game is still very much in its early, conceptual stages, I can only give you vague ideas. But for now I have planned for 4 male romance options, one female romance option, and a bonus one. I hope to make characters that should suit everyone's tastes, though obviously I can't predict how people will react to them!
All of them will have different likes and dislikes, and a personal story that may change the main character's fate, for good or bad. I do not want to include physical abuse in my games though so there will be none of that, though I can't promise your character won't get heartbroken.
As soon as I develop them all a little more, I will be posting profiles of them all so you'll have a chance to get to know them better!

6)Can I help?
You may be able to! As much as I'd like to say I'm polyvalent, I may be lacking in a few places; if I do need something for this game, I will likely post here asking for help!
If you were thinking of giving me money to help, you can head on to my patreon; I don't want to make a big crowdfunding campaign or anything of the like, and prefer some regular support for my art in general!
Otherwise as soon as I start posting concept art and other things like that, sharing it will help me out, as long as you link back here so people know where to look for it :)

7) I have more questions!
Good! Go for it! I'll answer as soon as possible! I love interacting with people really, so feel free to comment, even if it's just to say "hi"!

I’m opening up commissions for good!

Since I’m starting up with it all, I decided to start with sales prices :) The sale will last until the 19th of November, for a week! 10% of the price will go to a charity!

  • I ask people to pay half the commission’s price before I start working on it, then the remain of the price once it’s done.
  • I also ask people to wait until I accept the commission to start paying.
  • Contact me through my ask-box/by notes on deviantart so I may give you my email adress to discuss it more in depth.
  • I only take payment through paypal in euros.
  • Please send me some reference, and give me a detailed explanation of what you want.
  • I will send you previews of your drawings as I do them; I’m willing to change it up to two times before making you pay extra for changes. It would be better if you told me what changes need to be applied before I do the lineart/colors if you’re commissioning more than a sketch.
  • I will post your commission on my tumblr and deviantart by default; if you don’t want that to happen, please tell me before I finish it. In that case I will send it to youdirectly by email. If you decide to post my art anywhere, link back to my blog please.
  • If you wish to use my art for commercial purpose (such as games, adverts or videos), please say so when commissioning me.
  • I will ask for one to two weeks to finish a commission; if something happens which could lead me to adding a delay, I will warn you about it.
  • If you need a refund, please say so before I started to work on your commission.Once I started, I will not give you a refund. If for whatever reason I am unable to finish your commission, you will of course get a refund since it would be my fault.
  • I will send you the originals of the watercolors as long as you give me your address.
  • I will donate 10% of the commissions’ prices to a charity; if you’d like to pick a specific cause, please tell me which one!
  • If you would like a dress up game, please contact me and I’ll discuss the details and prices with you.

Things I will not do:

  • Marvel/DC comic styles
  • Anthros
  • Anything related to illegal activities
  • Some fetish work. Please ask about them.
  • Mechas

I'm really sorry for being away for a small while; I try to keep up to date on everything here. However my computer broke down and I only had  my tablet for a small while, so I couldn't quite do a lot of art, scan it or post on here.
It also explains why there's now an ugly tree in my gallery ;D
I'm going to post art soon again, though I am also busy with nanowrimo. I'm mostly concentrating on writing for the month, so again sorry but there might be a little less art posted here!

My desk

2 min read
I thought it could be interesting to share pictures of my desk, where I do most of my illustrations/drawings :)

Pictured on it are my main tools, namely:
-Watercolors (I like how easy it is and how pretty the outcome is)
-Different size of water-brushes (the water is in the pen itself, and while tricky at first it's easy to regulate the flow after a while)
-Regular brushes (which I mainly use for the drawing gum; it's best to have more than one size of brushes!)
-Drawing gum (it's a sort of liquid gum you draw with, then you can paint over it, rub it away and get nice white spaces :) pretty useful when it comes to watercolors!)
-Pencils (hidden under the paper there, I use them to do my linework and sometimes to color it in. I like the soft colors.)
-Cutout shapes and scissors (it gives straighter edges and the exact shape I want, which I can't always achieve with the drawing gum)
-Light-table (which is how I achieve clean lines; I do my sketches on one paper, then add another sheet of paper over it, making it work like layers in digital art)
-Good paper (which is essential while doing watercolors; I may need to upgrade mine to be honest. Don't use printer paper for your watercolors! It'll end up looking terrible and just either tear or make the paper all odd and bumpy)

The ilustration itself will hopefully be done by tonight; I'm trying to do a few fairytales related illustrations since I love them so much, starting with Frau Holle.
